01Truthful submissions
- Submit only documents that are authentic, complete and unaltered, and information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Submit only for works and rights you hold or are authorised to represent; disclose every competing claim, dispute, revocation or expiry you are aware of.
- Keep records current: report transfers, expiries, revocations and court decisions within 14 days.
- Do not open multiple company accounts to evade a rejection, a flag or a block.
02Representation of statuses and certificates
You may state that a work is “registered with SWLEF” or “verified by evidence on the SWLEF registry” with its registry ID. You may not state or imply that a record or certificate is official, governmental, court-issued, a copyright registration, a licence, an authorisation, or endorsed or recognised by a platform; that a public metadata reference proves ownership; or that a disputed, expired or withdrawn record is current. The Certificate Terms & Reliance Policy applies to every use of a certificate.
03Notices, disputes and appeals in good faith
The rights and takedown desk exists to correct the registry and to document conflicts. It must not be used to harass a competitor, to extort, to suppress lawful content, to make claims without a good-faith basis, or to flood the desk with repetitive or automated notices. Every notice must meet the requirements of the Appeals, Disputes & Notices Policy. Knowingly false notices are rejected, logged, may be disclosed to the affected party, and lead to a permanent block.
04Use of registry data
| Permitted | Not permitted without written consent |
|---|---|
| Reading and searching public records; sharing links to records and verification pages; citing a record with its registry ID; embedding the share card generated by SWLEF | Systematic extraction, scraping, crawling beyond robots.txt, mirroring or caching of the registry; bulk download beyond the limits of your plan |
| Using data within the limits of your plan (data access, bulk record access, API on request) for your own rights-management workflows | Re-publishing, reselling, sublicensing or including registry data in competing databases or products |
| Verifying certificates presented to you | Using registry data or artwork to train automated systems; removing or obscuring source labels, status labels or disclaimers |
05Security and integrity
- Do not attempt to access accounts, records, evidence files or administrative functions that are not yours, or to bypass gated or PIN-locked records, watermarks or screenshot deterrents.
- Do not probe, scan, overload, denial-of-service, inject code into or otherwise attack the Service or its providers.
- Do not use the OAuth connection flow for any purpose other than connecting an account you control; do not share or misuse verification codes.
- Security researchers acting in good faith may report vulnerabilities to dmca@swlef.com (subject “Security”); SWLEF will not pursue researchers who act responsibly, avoid data access beyond proof of concept, and allow reasonable time for a fix.
06Automated access
Automated access is permitted only through documented interfaces (the sitemaps for search engines, the share-card and verification endpoints for their intended use, and the API where granted) at reasonable request rates. Search engines may crawl public pages in accordance with robots.txt. Any other automated access requires written consent.
07Content you upload
Uploaded documents and artwork must not infringe third-party rights, contain malware, or include personal data of third parties beyond what the documents inherently require. Artwork submitted for a record must be the official artwork of the work or artwork you are entitled to use.
08Enforcement
Depending on the seriousness of the breach SWLEF may: issue a warning; require correction; suspend features or the account; reclassify, make private or withdraw affected records; revoke certificates and platform connections; block the party and associated accounts permanently; retain and disclose information to affected counterparties, platforms and authorities; and recover its costs. Decisions may be appealed under the Appeals, Disputes & Notices Policy, except permanent blocks for forgery or fraud, which are final.
